Your dog will have a chance to cool off from the summer heat this Sunday at the Pooch Pool Party at the Montgomery County Aquatic Center on the Bypass.
The event is scheduled for 2-4 p.m.
The event serves as a fundraiser for the animal rescue organization Love of Paws and is held in conjunction with the Mt. Sterling-Montgomery County Parks and Recreation Dept.
There is no charge for entry, but visitors are asked to bring a donation item.
Love of Paws president founder Pat Henry, however, said no one will be turned away if they want their dog to experience the joys of a nice, cool swim to beat the heat.
There is a limit for one dog per person. There are no breed restrictions, but owners must have control of their pet at all times. All dogs must be on a leash when outside of the pool and you must clean up after your dogs.
About 25 dogs participated in the event last year, Henry said.
The event is held at the end of every summer swim season at the aquatic center. The pool officially closed to the public Labor Day.
The parks and recreation dept. said the event is one of the highlights of the summer every year.
