The most world famous Kentuckian of all time, Mohammed Ali, used to say, “It’s not bragging if you can back it up.” Well, as CEO of Nolan Group Media, I just want to share some interesting facts about the great team here at the Mt. Sterling Advocate.
Social Media Impact: In the last 28 days, Facebook reports showed actual views for the Mt. Sterling Advocate’s page were over 1.3 MILLION. How many people follow you on Facebook? You should know, Facebook itself admits only about 12-25 percent of your “friends” will actually SEE any one single post you make.
The excellent reporting on just one video “reel” our team posted on Aug. 11, the one about downed utility line across the Levee after the storm with local police directing traffic, was viewed 161,611 times as of Sunday, Aug. 27. The Mt. Sterling Advocate has grown net new social media followers by 140 percent in just 30 days!
Online news: Instead of being only a weekly newspaper with some stuff online, the Mt. Sterling Advocate team is now reporting events online almost every day! Often they are reported as— or shortly after—they happen. Subscribers are seeing a lot more videos shot live while our folks covered the event. In a time when some say the media is all “Fake News,” your Mt. Sterling Advocate team is letting you see for yourself what happens in your community. We report the facts, and our pictures prove it. Maybe that’s why the Mt. Sterling Advocate sold over 70 day passes to our subscriber website in just the last month. Our local staff live here, care about this community, are dedicated and work hard to bring local news you can use daily— directly to the smart phone at your fingertips.
Traditional Newspaper product: While readers in most communities are opting out of traditional print products, the team of the Mt. Sterling Advocate has the highest circulation numbers per capita for any county I’ve checked in the Eastern half of Kentucky. Maybe it is because the newspaper this experienced team puts out each week is packed with real local news stories, lots of local faces and hyper local information, like local government reporting, you can’t get anywhere else.
So, when I say the Mt. Sterling Advocate is absolutely the best source for local news in Montgomery and Menifee counties, am I telling the truth or bragging? Regardless, I am extremely proud of this staff’s hard work. And I know all of us deeply appreciate you, our subscribers and advertisers, who still proudly support freedom of the press.
