KSP: Inmates injured by fallen cinder block during alleged escape attempt; grand jury to hear case

Posted

Authorities plan to take a case of attempted escape involving two Montgomery County Regional Jail inmates straight to the grand jury, a Kentucky State Police spokesman told the Advocate Friday.

The Montgomery County Grand Jury is scheduled to meet again May 22.

It will determine if charges are filed against the inmates reportedly involved, said Trooper Zach Haney, spokesman for the KSP's Morehead Post.

Haney said the KSP is investigating the report of an escape attempt May 4 involving two inmates.

The inmates were injured by a fallen cinder block during the incident, he said.

Earlier in the week Chief Deputy Jailer Beth Willoughby said the injuries were minor.

Additional details surrounding the escape attempt were not released pending the KSP investigation.
