It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Georgia Mae Mack Cunningham, 85, who left us peacefully, Friday, Sept. 12, 2025, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
Born Oct, 8, 1939, in Mt. Sterling, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Mack and Julia Garrett Johnson. She spent her life embodying kindness, compassion and an unwavering faith in God. She was a graduate of Dubois High School, and had a successful career taking care of homes for others. She was a devoted member of the High Street Christian Church, where she not only attended services but also actively participated as a Sunday School teacher and was a cherished member of the Disciples of Women. Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence, bringing her immense joy through church activities and Bible Study, and fostering a strong sense of community among her friends and family. In addition to her spiritual commitments, she had a vibrant social life, often found cheering for her favorite football teams-the Dallas Cowboys, Cincinnati Bengals, and University of Kentucky. Whether it was a Sunday service or a game day, she brought enthusiasm and warmth wherever she went. She also enjoyed watching her favorite shows-Family Feud and Price Is Right, and her soaps-Young & the Restless, Bold & the Beautiful, and General Hospital.
Survivors include her loving daughter, Patricia Norris (Stevie); son, Freddie Mack; grandson, Justin Norris (Casey); great-grandson, Justin Norris Jr.; great-granddaughter, Hannah Norris; special nieces, Monique Hayden, Bridgette King, Deborah Chenault and Julia Chenault; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. In addition, a special family, Sandy (the late Sid) Lansdale and family, and a special friend, Margaret Walker. Each of them was blessed to experience her nurturing spirit and the depth of her love.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings, William Earnest Johnson, Lucille Taylor, Anna Francis Martin, Mary Elizabeth Chenault, Nancy Catherine Kelley and Lela Mae Smith.
Service was conducted Wednesday, Sept. 17, at the High Street Christian Church with Reverand Darrell Hayden and Minister Sam Carr officiating. Burial was in Olive Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Tony Mack, John King, Devin King, Donchez Martin, Tyrell Hayden, Jerry Stevens, Michael Quinn Stevens and Ronnie Overstreet.
We will remember her gentle heart, unwavering faith, and the countless ways she touched the lives of those around her. She will be profoundly missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege to know her.
