Camargo honors longtime bus driver Berkley Mark, transportation team

Camargo Elementary School is taking time this week to recognize and celebrate the dedicated members of its transportation department while also mourning the loss of a beloved longtime bus driver, Mr. Berkley Mark, who passed away this past week.

Bus drivers play a critical role in the daily success of a school. They are often the first friendly face students see each morning and the last goodbye at the end of the day. Rain or shine, they ensure students arrive safely, supported, and ready to learn.

Camargo Elementary is proud to honor the commitment and professionalism of its transportation team, whose work extends far beyond driving a route. Their daily efforts build relationships, establish routines and provide students with a sense of safety and care.

This week’s recognition holds special meaning as the school community reflects on the life and service of Mr. Berkley Mark. Mark served as a bus driver for many years and was known for his reliability, kind spirit and dedication to the children and families he served. His presence on the road and within the community made a lasting impact on countless students over the years.

“Our transportation department is truly the heartbeat of our school community,” said Dr. Dudley McKenna, Principal of Camargo Elementary. “Our bus drivers are often the first and last adults our students see each day, and they provide far more than transportation—they provide safety, consistency, and care. We are deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Berkley Mark, who served our district faithfully for many years. Mr. Mark was a dedicated and dependable presence who made a lasting impact on countless students and families. We will greatly miss him, and we are grateful for the legacy he leaves behind. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones and with our entire transportation team during this difficult time.”
