This week, Congressman Andy Barr (R-KY-06) presented the Fiscal Year 2026 Community Project announcements to local leaders across Kentucky’s Sixth District, highlighting more than $15 million secured for critical infrastructure, public safety, and economic development initiatives throughout Central Kentucky.
Barr worked directly with city officials, county judges, economic development authorities and first responders to identify projects that address pressing local needs while promoting sustainable economic expansion. Local leaders thanked Congressman Barr, emphasizing how these federal funds will accelerate development for all Kentuckians, a release said.
“This year, after multiple fiscal years of continuing resolutions, Congress went through the traditional appropriations process. Returning to normal order means I was able to secure almost 15 and a half million dollars of federal funding for these projects,” Barr said. “From infrastructure projects, to research, to financing firetrucks and local police safety equipment – these funds will help better the communities around the district and will have a massive impact on my constituents’ lives. It has been a pleasure working with the local governments around the 6th District that are with me today to ensure that federal funds are directed to projects that matter and don’t end up being used for wasted fraud and abuse.”
Among those project announcements is one for Montgomery County-$1.4 million in federal funding for infrastructure projects at the new Walters Industrial Park.
“This funding will allow Montgomery County to take a major step toward developing a modern industrial park that meets the needs of today’s employers,” Montgomery County Judge-Executive Chris Haddix said in a release. “We appreciate Congressman Barr’s commitment to ensuring our community has the infrastructure necessary to grow and thrive.”
Haddix traveled to Lexington this week alongside local Industrial Authority board members for the presentation.
