American Revolution Experience opens in Carlisle

History came alive Thursday evening as the Nicholas County Historical Society welcomed the community for the opening of The American Revolution Experience, a traveling exhibit presented by the American Battlefield Trust and the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).

A ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception were held Thursday, Sept. 10, to officially open the exhibit. Members of the community gathered to celebrate the arrival of the traveling display and to learn more about the American Revolution and the people who helped shape the nation’s history.

The exhibit is being brought to Nicholas County through a collaboration between the Jemima Johnson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the American Battlefield Trust and the Nicholas County Historical Society.

The American Revolution Experience is designed to make history accessible and engaging for visitors of all ages. Through interactive displays and activities, visitors have an opportunity to explore the Revolutionary era and gain a greater understanding of the people, events and sacrifices that helped establish the United States.

There truly is something for everyone. Adults and history enthusiasts can explore the historical exhibits, while children can participate in numerous hands-on activities that make learning about the American Revolution both educational and fun.

The exhibit will remain open through Friday, September 18, 2026, and can be visited daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.

The exhibit is located at the Nicholas County Historical Society, 108 W. Main Street, Carlisle.

Organizers encourage families, students, residents and visitors throughout the area to stop by and experience this unique traveling exhibit while it is in Nicholas County.

The American Revolution is more than a chapter in a history book—it is the story of the people, places and events that helped create our nation. The American Revolution Experience offers local families an opportunity to step into that history and discover the story for themselves.
