4 inmates indicted; inmate found unresponsive at jail

Organized Crime Indictments Following Jail
Investigation

On May 6, 2026, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the Montgomery County Regional Jail to assist Montgomery County Fire & EMS regarding an unresponsive inmate.

The inmate was transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Following the incident, administration with the Montgomery County Regional Jail acted quickly and was able to locate video evidence related to the alleged events. Over the following days, jail administration and Detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation, reviewing additional video footage and interviewing multiple individuals.

As a result of the investigation, on May 22nd, 2026, the Montgomery County Grand Jury returned indictments against Misty Helton, Madison Rogers, Jennifer Dotson, and Rebecca Becraft for Engaging in Organized Crime after hearing testimony and reviewing video evidence presented in the case.

All four individuals are currently being held on previous charges and are additionally being held on a $50,000 bond related to the new indictments.
