Vance Allen Jouett, 72, of Mt. Sterling, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026, at Saint Joseph Main in Lexington, surrounded by his loving children.
Born Aug. 13, 1953, in Mt. Sterling, he was the second of five children born to the late Sanford and Dorothy Lee Jones Jouett. He was a lifelong member of High Street Christian Church. He was the grandson of the late Bramlett and Mattie Jones and John and Ella Jouett. He attended Dubois school from kindergarten until fifth grade due to a fire at the school in the summer of 1964. He was one of the first groups of students to integrate into the city schools in Mt. Sterling. He is a proud member of the Mt. Sterling High School Class of 1971. He attended Sullivan University and Morehead State University where he received his associate and bachelor degrees respectively. He was a CPA for over 20 years working for Medicaid in Frankfort and also worked at H&R Block during tax season. He was a fan of UK basketball and football, an avid reader, and history lover. He also loved spending time with his friends and family. His biggest blessing in life was his wife, Christie, and his four children.
Survivors include three daughters, Adia Gabrielle, Allison Taylor Lee and Alyssa Danielle Frances Jouett, all of Mt. Sterling; a son, Anthony Allen Redmond Jouett of Mt. Sterling; bonus children, R’riana, Ja,Kyiah, Legaci Garrett and Shonda Burns, all of Mt. Sterling; a sister, Jennifer Jouett Jackson of Mt. Sterling; a brother, Lanny Jouett (Joetta) of Frankfort; sisters-in-law, Sheliah Redmond Sterling of Lexington and Clairessa Hamilton (Leon) of Versailles; a brother-in-law, Clarence Redmond Jr. of Lexington; and a host of nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 28 years, Christie Redmond Jouett; in-laws, Clarence and Sallye Groves Redmond; brother, Mark Jouett; sister, Doris Burns Carter; sister-in law, Elizabeth “Libby” Glover; and two brothers-in-law, Jackie Sterling and Walter Jackson.
Service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 10, at Heritage Christian Church, 402 Commerce Circle, Mt. Sterling with Reverend Jerry Jones, Reverend Darrell Hayden and Reverend Chris Shaw officiating. Burial will be in Machpelah Cemetery. Visitation will be noon-2 p.m. Tuesday.
