MCHS senior heading confidently in the DIRECTION OF HER DREAMS

Posted

Senior year can be a bit overwhelming—senior photos, prom, graduation and the biggest looming question to answer—where do I go from here?

That answer might involve college, trade school, entering the workforce or the military. For some, plans still may not be quite finalized.

Ellie Bowlin is not only managing the stress well, but heading confidently in the direction of her dreams. While a full time student, she also serves as the Montgomery County High School Class of 2026 president, works at Dairy Queen and is a budding actress.

Ellie most recently appeared in a commercial for Christ Hospital, which aired during the Super Bowl and was featured in another Christmas commercial for Cattleman’s Restaurant.

Up next for Ellie will be an appearance in a film by EchoTV, producers of the “Gone” series that was featured at the local movie theater. In mid-April Ellie will join cast members in the filming of Hollywood production “Ethan Almighty-Ethan’s Law.”

Bowlin said pieces will be filmed in Bardstown and others in Louisville and Frankfort.

Ethan is a dog who was left in terrible condition in the Kentucky Humane Society parking lot in 2021. Weighing in at just 38 pounds upon discovery, the KHS says he should have tipped the scales between 80-90 pounds for his breed.

Ethan defied all the odds, however, and was fostered and later adopted by Jeff Callaway. The pair inspired Ethan’s Law, an animal anti-cruelty bill.

Ellie’s role in the production will be as Irene, the vet tech.

“I want to be involved in any sort of movie I can,” Ellie told the Advocate. “Seeing this kind of story ... I love animals, I love dogs. I looked it up and saw his picture beforehand and it was just heartbreaking.

“I think it’s great they are making a movie about it,” Ellie added. “This is a big movie, especially to come to Kentucky.”

Among Hollywood stars already tapped for the film include Sean Patrick Flanery, Selma Blair and Trevor Donovan.

“I found out about this film through my agency and my manager. He told me he had a part he really thought I would be good for and wanted to present me to the director. She gave me a chance after seeing my video audition.”

The film will be directed by Tane McClure. Vin Morreale serves as Ellie’s manager.

Although already making a name for herself in the industry, Bowlin said she still plans to go to college.

“Hopefully I’m able to make a career out of acting, but a college degree is a backup plan.”

She will major in communications. In the meantime, she continues to have a leading role for the senior class as president and is busy planning prom.

“It is a lot to figure out prom during all of this, but we did raise I think maybe a little over $15,000. Juggling everything isn’t as difficult as it seems. A lot of my classes I’m able to do online. I did a movie in September, but I just brought my Chromebook and worked on it (schoolwork) in my downtime,” Ellie told the Advocate.
