Senior Isabella Jaya-suria and sophomore Kendal Augsbach combined for 57 points Monday night as Campbell County defeated Montgomery County, 76-61, at Campbell County in the opening round of the 10th Region Tourna-ment.
The loss gave the Lady Indians a final record of 20-11 while Campbell County advanced with a 22-6 record.
Junior Elaine Purvis led Montgomery County with 20 points and the team’s only senior, Addison Terry, finished her stellar career with 12 points and 10 rebounds. See complete details of the game in next week’s Mt. Sterling Advocate.

Montgomery County led 11-10 early in the game last Wednesday night as they took on Clark County at the MCHS Arena in the 40th District championship game.
Then the top-ranked Lady Cards scored seven in a row to take a 17-10 lead.
Montgomery County battled back and the score was tied at 20-20.
End of the line.
Clark County scored 14 unanswered points to end the half with a 34-20 lead and the Lady Cards went on to post a 74-43 victory to capture another 40th District title.
The Lady Cards pulled away in the third quarter when they hit 11 of 16 field goal attempts while the Lady Indians could hit only three of 15.
That stretched the margin to 60-28.
Montgomery County did manage to avoid the running clock until the 3:31 mark when Clark County took a 72-37 lead.
The game essentially came down to shooting as Clark County held a slim advantage in rebounding and turnovers.
But while the Clark County defense forced the Indians to shoot 35 percent from the floor the Lady Cardinals were able to sink more than 50 percent of their shots as they raised their record to 26-2 on the season, defeating Montgomery County for the third time.
Montgomery County fell to 20-10 and the loss set up a trip to Campbell County Monday night for the Coach Jordan Perry’s team where they faced a Lady Camel squad that defeated them 75-63 late in the regular season.
Clark County earned a home date to open the region against Bishop Brossart and the final four teams will convene at the Harrison County gym Friday and Saturday nights to determine the 10th Region champion who will move on to the state tournament next week at Rupp Arena.

The Lady Indians got off to a slow start and trailed the Lady Hounds 11-5 after the opening period of the 40th District Tournament last week at the MCHS Arena.
But they pulled ahead 27-18 at the half on their way to a convincing win that put them in the championship game against Clark County.
Junior guard Elaine Purvis led the Tribe with 23 points and eight rebounds while also getting seven deflections and four steals.
Senior Addison Terry added 15 points and five rebounds as seven different Lady Indians hit three-points for the Lady Indians.
Montgomery County also dominated the backboards, 38-25.
The Greyhounds, who struggled putting points on the scoreboard, were led by senior point guard Jamyah Bell and junior Holly Mason who scored 11 points each.
The Greyhounds captured two tournament titles during the holiday break this year.
Paris, which had only two seniors on their roster, finished with a 16-14 record under Coach Aaron Speaks while Montgomery County advanced with a record of 20-9.
