James “Jimmy” Edwin Roberts, 79, currently of Oxford, Ala., died Saturday, March 28, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Montgomery County, he was the son of the late Ora Roberts and Roberta Roberts. He was a member of Antioch Christian Church, and member and deacon at First Christian Church in Anniston, Ala. He had a passion for lawn care, especially his own yard. He enjoyed watching Kentucky basketball. He graduated from Montgomery County High School then proceeded to go to Berea College. He was in the Army Reserve for six years before retiring from The Anniston Army Depot after 30 years, working as a machinist. He was a loving husband, father, son, and friend who will be missed tremendously.
Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Barbara Roberts; daughter, Lora Roberts; brother-in-law, Gary Phillips (Stephanie); niece, Jodie Phillips; nephew, Jeffery Phillips (Carly); friends, Danny Sprayberry (Amy), Wanda Pettus, Connie Pollard, Bobby Israel, Terry McCarty, Mike Haddix, Jerry Cassidy (Linda), and Ronnie Chapman.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by friends, Bobby Kerns, Everett Pollard, and Randy Haddix; niece, Stacy Ballard; nephew, Brian Roberts; and a brother.
A service will be held at a later date.
Miller Funeral Home, Crematory, and Aquamation Center was in charge of arrangements.
