Dr. Collis Robinson is a dedicated educator and community leader who has spent his career empowering others through education and service. Originally from Greenville, S.C., he has called Kentucky home for the past 16 years, according to biographical information provided to the Advocate.
Robinson began his professional journey as an elementary school teacher in Montgomery County, an experience that shaped his commitment to equity and opportunity in education. Starting his career here holds a special place in his heart, and returning for this MLK Day session is a meaningful reminder of where his path began, information provided to the Advocate notes.
Today, Robinson serves as dean of student labor at Berea College, a nationally recognized institution dedicated to providing a tuition-free education and fostering an environment that values belonging, opportunity and service as integral to student growth. Berea’s distinctive work-learning-service gives students the opportunity to contribute 10–15 hours weekly, equipping them with skills for success in both academics and life.
A proud Berea alumnus, Robinson earned his bachelor’s degree debt-free. This transformative experience fuels his passion for helping students achieve similar opportunities. He is driven to innovate systems and processes that enhance the student experience and promote educational equity, information provided to the Advocate states.
Family is central to his life. He is a devoted husband to Shaniqua Robinson and father to three boys, ages 1, 8, and 9. His commitment to community, education and family defines his leadership and inspires those around him.
