The Mt. Sterling City Council voted 5-1 Tuesday night in favor of moving forward in regard to the city restaurant tax discussion. An ordinance will be have to be drafted with language increasing the tax from 2 percent to 3 percent and then voted upon.
A standing room only crowd gathered at the city council meeting, which came after four public hearings on the proposal. The measure would require two readings before formally being adopted. A proposal is expected to be presented at the next council meeting.
These videos provide some clips of the final two hearing discussions held on the matter.
