Montgomery County’s first free disposal day of 2026 proved to be a huge success, according to Rumpke.
A total of 296 residents brought in 134 tons of waste to the Montgomery County landfill Saturday, April 11, in the first of four annual free disposal days hosted by Rumpke Waste & Recycling.
“This is always a wonderful day to showcase the long-standing partnership between Rumpke and Montgomery County,” said Kevin Hall, Rumpke communications coordinator. “Rumpke has been part of this community since 1989 and remains committed to providing this great opportunity for residents to get rid of items that can’t be picked up by our regular curbside service.”
Residents disposed of a total of 459.08 tons of waste at the four free days hosted by Rumpke in 2025.
Montgomery County Solid Waste Coordinator Donny Pennington assisted at the event. The free disposal days are collaborations between Rumpke and Montgomery County officials, including the judge-executive, fiscal court and solid waste dept..
The remaining three free disposal days in 2026 are May 9, Sept. 12 and Oct. 10.
