Posted

Montgomery County residents took part in the final free landfill disposal day of 2026.

A total of 128 residents brought in 71.9 tons of waste to the Montgomery County Landfill Saturday, Oct. 10, in the last of four annual free disposal days hosted by Rumpke Waste & Recycling.

Montgomery County residents have been able to dispose 327.23 tons for free in 2026.

“Rumpke remains committed to the community in providing this fantastic opportunity to get rid of items that can’t be picked up by our regular, curbside service,” said Kevin Hall, Rumpke communications manager. “It’s a wonderful partnership of almost 40 years between Rumpke and Montgomery County.”

Montgomery County Solid Waste Coordinator Donny Pennington assisted Rumpke landfill employees at the event. The free disposal days are collaborations between Rumpke and Montgomery County officials, including the judge-executive, fiscal court and solid waste department.

The 2027 dates will be determined by Pennington and Rumpke and shared with the community when they are available.
