James David Whitton, 64

James David Whitton, 64, of Winchester, died Friday, May 23, 2025.
Born Dec. 21, 1960, in Morehead, he was the son of the late James Vernon and Laura Mae Warren Whitton.  He was a member of the Church of God.  He was a truck driver until his accident in October 1999.  
Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Darlene Smith Whitton; two children, Jenn Whitton of Winchester and Jeffrey (Mia) Whitton of Elizabethtown; a grandson, Lincoln David Whitton of Elizabethtown; brother and sister-in-law, Josh and Tami Adkins; nephew, Christopher (Ashley) Adkins; close friends, Donnie and Edie Shields, Barry and Kathy Mayfield, Renee Rhodes and family, Larry Stamper, Kim and Connie McCrary, Kevin and Gayle Baker Knepper, Jessie and Kenny Randolph, Bo Scott, and Lisa Weaver; many cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Harold Clay Smith; Granny, Frances Edmundson; pastor, Stanley Hutchinson; and best friend and caregiver, Henry Redmond.
Memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 31, at Taul Funeral Home Chapel with Alan Hutchinson officiating.  Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday.   
In lieu of flowers David requested that donations be made to his grandson’s school.  Checks may be made payable to St. James Catholic School.  Please include In Memory of David Whitton on the memo line.  Envelopes will be available at the service, but can be mailed directly to the school:  St. James Catholic School, 401 Robinbrooke Blvd., Elizabethtown, Ky., 42701.
