MCHS senior gets unforgettable surprise at prom

A local student got an unexpected surprise prom night Saturday, April 27, when her boyfriend arrived from the U.S. Army in Colorado to take her to the event.

Morgan Jackson, a senior at Montgomery County High School, had no idea that her boyfriend, Jake Lawwill, had arranged to fly in to take her, said Rachel Greene, a photographer and family friend.
Greene said the families had secretly planned the surprise in advance of prom.

Morgan’s family had scheduled for her to pose for prom pictures at Irish Hills Golf Course, she said.

For one particular set of photos, Morgan had her back to the parking lot while Jake walked up from behind and surprised her, Greene said.
She said Jake had flown in the day of the prom from Colorado on a brief leave and left the next morning after attending church with her Sunday morning.

Jake had enlisted in the Army last year and had only been in Colorado for about a month, Greene said.

Jake was hopeful that he might be back on a return trip for Morgan’s graduation May 31, she said.

Morgan is the daughter of Brittany Culbertson and Shane Jackson and granddaughter of Kim Culbertson. She is the great-granddaughter of Morgan (a veteran) and Bobbie Arnold.
