Trial for Robbie, Tanya Conn to begin in March

2/16/2018

By Tom Marshall
Senior Advocate writer

William “Robbie” Conn, pastor of Jeffersonville Assembly of God, and his wife, Tanya D. Conn, aka Tanya D. Lewis, are scheduled to go on trial in federal court beginning March 26.

The Conns were charged in a seven-count indictment in July with alleged fraud involving the Social Security Disability Insurance and Medicare programs.

The indictment alleges that the Conns defrauded the programs of more than $100,000 over six years before and after Robbie Conn had heart transplant surgery in 2010.

The indictment alleges that Robbie Conn collected benefits from the programs while still working as pastor of the church and receiving salary that was diverted to his wife to conceal the fraud.

Tanya D. Conn was allegedly paid twice per month for the salary that actually belonged to her husband.

The alleged crimes took place between 2009 and 2015.

The trial will be held before U.S. District Court Judge Karen Caldwell. The Conns are being represented by George Scott Hayworth, James Lowry and Mark A. Wohlander, according to court documents.
Conn remains pastor of the church.

An indictment is a formal accusation of a crime, but does not establish guilt.
