After almost five hours, a standoff between a Mt. Sterling woman and law enforcement ended peacefully Tuesday with no injuries.
Law enforcement received a call Tuesday afternoon that Sandra Musgrove was reportedly threatening to harm herself at her residence, 144 Fuller Way.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and Kentucky State Police arrived to the scene just after 3 p.m., secured the area and began negotiations with Musgrove, Montgomery County Sheriff Fred Shortridge said. He added law enforcement members were stationed at the home’s porch and could see Musgrove through a glass screen door.

Musgrove, Shortridge said, appeared to be very irate and had her two sons and grandson in the home. All three were removed safely and negotiations continued.

Musgrove was reportedly armed with a .38 caliber handgun, which Shortridge said she pulled multiple times.
During a portion of the standoff, Musgrove had a live YouTube feed and claimed the responding officers were harassing her and not leaving her residence.

Around 8 p.m., Shortridge said Musgrove came out of the home and the standoff ended.

She was taken to St. Joseph Mt. Sterling Hospital.

“I give my guys so much praise,” Shortridge said. “It ended the way we wanted it to end. ...That’s why we do what we do. We wait it out to make sure everything is well.”

Shortridge said law enforcement have responded to the residence recently for welfare checks.

Musgrove was released from the hospital and lodged in the Montgomery County Regional Jail around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, Shortidge said. She is charged with felon in possession of firearm.
