Murder suspect facing drug charges

Authorities allege that murder suspect Nickie Miller was in possession of heroin and methamphetamine and with a known drug trafficking suspect when he was recently arrested for a reported bond violation in the murder case.

Last week, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office charged Miller, 55, of Stanton, with two counts of first-degree possession of a controlled substance.

The sheriff’s office was armed with a warrant charging Miller with the alleged bond violation May 9 when they located him in a vehicle and initiated a traffic stop.

Miller reportedly had a quantity of suspected heroin and methamphetamine in the floor at his feet in front of him, sheriff’s Det./Sgt. Ralph Charles said.

In the vehicle with Miller was Rosanna Conrad, 34, who was wanted on drug trafficking charges, Charles said. She was reportedly in possession of crystal meth and oxycodone when she was arrested.

Later that evening, authorities arrested Conrad’s mother, Jerry Kay Henderson, 55, on drug trafficking charges.

The mother and daughter were part of a drug investigation that had been ongoing for several weeks in conjunction with the federal Drug Enforcement Administration, Charles said.
Conrad and Henderson live next door to each other in Jeffersonville.
Miller is a suspect in the alleged murder and robbery of Paul Brewer, 52, in December 2011.

The Commonwealth Attorney’s Office has filed notices of intent to seek the death penalty against Miller and a co-defendant Natasha Martin.
Miller’s attorney, public defender Bridget Hofler Saunders, opposes the death penalty, claiming in a motion that it is nothing more than an attempt to delay the trial scheduled to start July 17.

Miller was released in April after posting a $100,000 property bond. The Commonwealth Attorney’s Office alleged that he violated bond by leaving his residence “on multiple occasions for trips that do not appear to be for medical treatment or to contact his attorney.”

Saunders has filed a motion seeking to have bond reinstated. She claims the bond did not require home incarceration.

As part of his bond, Miller was to wear an ankle monitor. He reportedly suffers from several medical conditions.
