7YO state tournament at Easy Walker this week

Eight teams, including the local representative, are competing this week in the East Kentucky Cal Ripken 7Y0 State tournament at Easy Walker, hosted by Mt. Sterling-Montgomery County Parks and Recreation Dept.
Teams entered include Montgomery County, Scott County, Garrard County, Lexington Southeastern, Northern Lexington, Lake Cumberland, Lincoln County and South Lexington.
The tournament gets under way on Wednesday and will run through Saturday.
The team from Montgomery County began play last night (Wednesday) against Scott County at 6 p.m. and then will take Garrard County at 6 p.m. Thursday and Lexington Southeastern Friday night at 6 p.m.
The top two finishers in pool play will advance to the four-team elimination bracket on Saturday.
The teams are divided into two pools with Montgomery County, Scott County, Garrard County and Lexington Southeastern in Pool No. 1 and Northern Lexington, Lake Cumberland, Lincoln County and South Lexington in Pool No. 2.
Games are being played on two fields. Here is the tournament schedule:

Wednesday, July 8
6 p.m. — Montgomery County vs Scott County; Lexington Northern vs Lake Cumberland. 7:30 p.m. — Garrard County vs Lexington Southeastern; Lincoln County vs South Lexington.
Thursday, July 9
6 p.m. — Garrard County vs Montgomery County; Lincoln County vs Lexington Northern. 7:30 p.m. — Scott County vs Lexington Southeastern; South Lexington vs Lake Cumberland.
Friday, July 10
6 p.m. — Montgomery County vs Lexington Southeastern; Lexington Northern vs South Lexington; 7:30 p.m. — Scott County vs Garrard County; Lincoln County vs Lake Cumberland.
Saturday, July 11
10 a.m. — Seed No. 1 vs Seed No. 4; Seed No. 2 vs Seed No. 3. 1 p.m. — Winners of the two semifinal games from earlier in the day will play for the tournament championship with a chance to advance on in regional play.

The standings in the pool play level of competition will be determined by the following order: 1. won-loss record; 2. head-to-head competition; 3. fewest runs allowed; 4. run differential (maximum of 10 runs per game.

The top two teams in each pool advance to the championship elimination round with the seeding determined by pool play results and the home team determined by a coin flip in all games.

“This is a great opportunity for our community to showcase Easy Walker Park to other areas,” said Patrick Manning, director of the Parks and Recreation Dept. “We want to continue to host as many of these statewide events as we can because it’s certainly good for the local economy and we have a beautiful facility. I hope local fans will take the opportunity to come out and support us.”
