The Montgomery County High School track and field teams placed second recently in the Fleming County Twilight Invitational.

The MCHS girls lost to Mason County in their 13-team field and finished ahead of an always strong Fleming County squad.

The boys lost out to Fleming County and finished ahead of Mason County in their 11-team field.

Along the way the boys’ 4x800 relay team set a new school record and senior Aiyanna Jones won both the shot put and discus events.
Another highlight for Coach Ed Stepanchuk came when junior Cruz Ortiz, running for the first time in the 400 meter dash, won the event in :57.22.

Sophomore April Eling also won the 800 meter run and junior Dustin Townsend won the pole vault.

With many young student/athletes, every meet seems to bring new positive moments for the Indians.
Sophomore mid-distance runner Sydney Claypoole had another outstanding effort for the Indians.
