No indictment in death case

The Montgomery County Grand Jury did not return an indictment last Friday in a case in which a woman was killed by a vehicle on Nest Egg Road

The grand jury found insufficient evidence to prove that Adam Baker, 22, of Paris, intended to harm the victim, his girlfriend, 22-year-old Katrina Celeste Craver of Olympia, Commonwealth Attorney Ronnie Goldy told the Advocate.

The incident occurred Jan. 30 outside Craver’s father’s home at 616 Nest Egg Road.

Craver, authorities claim, was either in the bed or hanging onto the bed of a pickup driven by Baker that sped away from the home.

Craver, authorities previously said, died from head trauma suffered when she was thrown from the vehicle and hit her head on the pavement.

A passing motorist found Craver’s badly injured body and she was taken to St. Joseph Mt. Sterling Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The couple had reportedly been engaged in an argument prior to the incident.

Baker reportedly told investigators during an interview he didn’t know Craver was hanging onto the bed and didn’t see her fall.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case and turned over the evidence it collected for the consideration of the grand jury.

Family and friends of Craver posted messages on a tribute page at Richardson Funeral Home in Owingsville remembering her as a “beautiful young lady” who brought smiles to those with whom she came in contact.
