The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in connection with the May 17 robbery of the B-Kwik convenience store on Doe Run Drive.
Benjamin Basye, 39, of Jeffersonville, was arrested Sept. 16 by sheriff’s detectives and deputies at his residence on charges of first-degree robbery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, sheriff’s Det./Sgt. Ralph Charles said.
He is currently lodged at the Montgomery County Regional Jail.
An investigation, which included tips from the public, helped lead detectives to Basye as a suspect, Charles said.
Basye also had tattoos that reportedly matched that of the suspect seen on the surveillance video from the store, he said. Authorities reportedly recovered the weapon believed to have been used in the robbery.
During the robbery the suspect reportedly brandished a pistol grip shotgun and demanded money, which the clerk handed over. He was wearing a bandana over his face and a ball cap.
The suspect reportedly fled in a nearby vehicle.
